Bulgaria is fourth in Europe in development rate of winter tourism

Bulgaria is in 4th place in the rate of development of winter tourism in Europe, said Deputy Minister of Economy in charge of Tourism Branimir Botev a meeting with the world media during the World Travel Market exhibition in London. During the past winter the country is visited by over 1 million tourists, an increase of 8.2%. We hope that this positive trend will continue during the 2013-2014 season."The summer season was also successful in Bulgaria. For the period June- August 2013 the country was visited by 3.5 million tourists, an increase of 5.4%", said Deputy Minister Branimir Botev. The largest number of tourists who visited Bulgaria in the summer season were from Russia, Germany, Romania, Greece, Ukraine, United Kingdom.
During the exhibition World Travel Market - London 2013 Bulgarian booth was visited by the Chief Executive of the British travel agency Sandy Dow. A workshop Deputy Minister Branimir Botev and Sandy Dow discussed Bulgaria's potential to attract more tourists from the UK and in particular in the field of SPA and cultural tourism. "British tourists appreciate the opportunities for alternative tourism in Bulgaria which offers a combination of good food and quality wine. Our country is an attractive destination all year round, and only during the summer of 2013 has been visited by over 140,000 British tourists," said Botev. For its part, Sandy Dow has assured that between the UK and Bulgaria will continue the dialogue to exchange best practices in the field of tourism. They also discussed the possibility to be explored British experience in organization of the tourism industry and inter-institutional relations in the sphere of tourism.
"Of particular interest to us is the way of structuring the budget and national priorities in outdoor advertising , which is the UK. Turned it into something we are still ahead of the UK", said Branimir Botev.
