Bulgaria's Kotooshu Earns 1st Win at Kyushu Tournament

Bulgarian sumo wrestler Kaloyan Mahlyanov, aka Kotooshu, earned his first win at the November "Kyushu Basho", after defeating Mongolian veteran Kyokutenho.

Kotooshu, who holds the 2nd highest rank in professional sumo, "ozeki", pulled out of the September tournament due to injury, which means he is currently in danger of losing his rank, if he fails to win at least 8 out of the 15 bouts.

The Bulgarian lost his first match on Sunday, but bounced back on the 2nd day, to level his score at 1-1.
The second Bulgarian wrestler, Daniel Ivanov – Aoiyama, lost on Monday, and is also with a 1-1 record.

Expectedly, the two grand champions Hakuho and Harumafuji are both undefeated so far.
The "Kyushu Basho" is the last tournament for the year, taking place in the southern Japanese city of Fukuoka.
