Great Britain's Prince Edward to Visit Bulgaria in March 2013

Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, the third son of Queen Elizabeth II, is going to visit Bulgaria in the middle of March this year, the official website of the British Royal Family reported.
Prince Edward is coming to observe the process of closing down orphanages in Bulgaria and moving their inhabitants to foster families or protected homes.

The Royal family which is committed to charity for orphans and handicapped children, is interested in the model Bulgaria chose three years ago in order to solve the problem with orphanages.

The program of Prince Edward is not clear yet but he will definitely have a meeting with Bulgaria's minister of labour and social policy, Totyu Mladenov, whose ministry reported about the future visit of Prince Edward.

Currently, there are 127 orphanages in Bulgaria which take care of children of between 0 and 18 years of age. For the last three years 15 orphanages were closed down. According to the state strategy all orphanages should be closed in 15 years.
