Over 300,000 Russians Possess Realties in Bulgaria

altOver 300,000 Russians own property in Bulgaria. The real owners are about 100,000 and the rest are members of their families, Yury Solovyov - Russia's Consul General in the city of Varna announced. Most of Russian owned estates are along Bulgaria's Black Sea coast, but there are some houses in southwestern Bulgaria, too, said Alexander Anisimov, chair of the newly created Association of Russian-Speaking Owners of Real Estate in Bulgaria "Alyosha". The famous pop singer of Bulgarian descent Filip Kirkorov will be invited to become a member of the association. The Russian mega star has bought six apartments in luxury complex "Slanchev Den" (Sunny Day), as two of them belong to his ex-wife Alla Pugacheva. The majority of Russian investors in real estate in Bulgaria belong to the middle class connected to oil production. Their fortune has been increasing due to the growing of oil prices during the last six years. Many Russian families live in Bulgaria from May to October and a lot of people settle permanently after retiring. Their pensions are about 250-300 euro and life in Russia is in times costlier than in Bulgaria. Because of that elderly people sell their property in Russia and settle in Bulgaria. They are lured by Bulgarian nature, the great similarity between the languages, the hospitality of Bulgarians and the weather - much milder than in Turkey. "Many Russians have bought the houses of Englishmen, who have decided to returned home," Krassimir Todorov - mayor of Avren municipality said. At the moment Russian investors are interested in acquiring 10 hectares near Kamchiya River, where is situated the holiday village of Moscow Government. The plan envisages the construction of luxury homes for Russian citizens.
