US Deputy Secretary of State William Burns has assured that the visa requirements for Bulgarian citizens will be reconsidered in the light of US legislation aimed at reducing the number of visa rejections.

"As an EU country, Bulgaria hopes for a speedy unification of the visa-free regime for all Member States," Bulgarian Foreign Minister Nikolay Mladenov told William Burns at a meeting in Washington on Tuesday.

Later on Tuesday, Bulgaria's Foreign Minister met with Antony Blinken, Assistant to the President and Deputy national security policy adviser for President Obama, but the agenda of the meeting was not disclosed, after which he headed for Kuwait.
