"Stoyan Bachvarov" Theater of Drama - city of Varna

The building of the Varna theater of Drama "Stoyan Bachvarov" was built by the project of architect Nikola Lazarov who also took part in the construction of the National Theater of Sofia.
The foundation stone was layed on March 26th, 1912. The entire population of the city took part in the initiative. The works on the construction were again restored in 1927. It was a time of poverty but the cost of the materials for the construction of the theater were added to every bread, to every movie ticket, bath ticket, beach ticket. For less than a month's time 1 million levs were gathered. The officials added another 2 millions. Some changes were made after the construction completion - the stage was extended to the sides and in depth by the architect Mr. Dabko Dabkov. The construction was completed in by the city architekt Mr. Jelyazko Bogdanov.
The building has been oficially opened on June 5th, 1932.
