Kolena is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in Stara Zagora Municipality, Stara zagora region.
It is 14 km northeast from the city of Stara Zagora, about 30 km west from the town of Nova Zagora, about 38 km south from the town of Kazanlak, 171 km west from the city of Burgas and 242 km southeast from the capital city of Sofia.
There is a regular bus transport to the capital city and the city of Stara Zagora and town of Nova Zagora.
Village lies on the southern slopes of Sarnena Average Forest mountain at 300 m altitude. The permanent population is about 250 inhabitants.
The climate is temperate continental with Mediterranean influence. It is characterized by mild and short winter and long and warm summer.
Kolena is well developed village with city hall and a church "St. Arch. Michael", two hotels with restaurants. There is Internet access, cable TV and cover all mobile operators. In the nearby village of Hrishteni there is a kindergarten. Nearest schools and hospital are located in the district city of Stara Zagora.
The location and the nature of Kolena determine the active development of rural and eco-tourism.
In the lands of village Kolena is located natural landmark "Milkini Rocks" - representing an interesting rock formation and nest habitat of the golden eagle.
Small river passes through its territory enabling fishing and outdoor recreation.
In the immediate vicinity of the village is dam Kolena, where there are places for recreation and relaxation - restaurants, pool and hotel complex.
