Ribnitsa is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in Rudozem Municipality, Smolyan region.

It is 4 km southeast from the town of Rudozem, 7 km from the border with Greece, about 19 km southwest  from the town of Madan, about 30 km southeast from the town of Smolyan and 273 km southwest from Sofia.
There is regular bus service to Rudozem.

Located in the southern parts of the Rhodopes at 835 m altitude. The population is 320 people.

The climate is temperate continental. With snowy winter, cool summer and long autumn.

The village has a town hall, medical center, community center, kindergarten, school, two shops and a cinema club. The nearest hospital is located in Rudozem.


Tourism

Ribnitsa is an attractive village with diverse flora and fauna. Mixed type of forest create favorable conditions for hunting, hiking or biking panoramic walk. Rock formations are suitable for beginners and experienced climbers.

One of the unique landmark is the medieval fortress Koznik. It is reachable through ecopath "Kechi Kaya" - "Koznik". The castle is part of the whole fortress system in the past served to defend the Rhodopes. There were found many pieces of pottery from different periods.

In the town of Madan, you can visit:

- Cave-Museum "Sharenka".  This is the first cave museum in Bulgaria.
- Area  ​​"Gabata" - rock with a small cave in which were found pieces of pottery from different periods. Following the path of the rock massif leads to the Thracian mines, in which were found primitive tools for the extraction of ore and clay lamps.
