Velchevo is a sub-Balkan village, located in municipality of Veliko Tarnovo.
It’s 7 km form Kilifarevo, 10 km from Debelets, 15 km from Veliko Tarnovo and 30 km from Dryanovo. Sofia is on 235 km and Varna on 230 km.
Velchevo is a centre of cultural, historical, eco, health, rural and religious tourism, mainly because it’s in the proximity of five monasteries – Kilifarevo, Plachkovo, Kapinovo and Prisovo monasteries. They are cultural-historical monuments. “Holy Transfiguration” and “St. Forty Martyrs” monasteries are 14 km far from Velchevo.
Voneshta voda village, which is famous with the healing effects of its mineral water, is 23 km far from it. The mountain air and the mineral water contribute for the rehabilitation and curing of many diseases.
The village is near to the Kapinovo falls, which is national natural landmark and used as a beach by the local people. Near the falls are protected areas: “Pregradnoto” and “Manastirskoto”. Velchevo is between two rivers and a dam: Belitsa River, Veselina River and Iovkovtsi dam.
The region is very suitable for hiking, fishing, swimming, mountain sports, biking, sightseeing, picnicking and sunbathing.
Tourists can stay in the local rest villas and holiday houses, which offer all facilities.
There are two shops, a café, a post office, a medical centre, a library club and bus transport to Veliko Tarnovo.
