Location

Tsigov chark, the Bulgarian around-the-year mountain resort, is set on the territory of the Western Rodopi Mountain - south-east from the picturesque Batak Dam. It is 900-1100 meters above sea level among green fields and old forests.
The resort is 7 km away from town of Batak, 18 km away from town of Velingrad, 43 km away from town of Pazardzhik, 67 km away from town of Plovdiv and 141 km away from city of Sofia.
Tsigov chark offers excellent possibilities for recreation and tourism during summer and winter seasons.
The unique location on the banks of Batak Dam and the proximity to the hills of the Rodopi mountain top Golyama Syutkya /2186 m/ make the resort suitable for fishing tourism and eco tours at summer.
The following dams are set close to the resort - Shiroka Polyana, Beglika, Golyam Beglik and the Snezhanka cave.

Tourism

Batak Dam waters offer unforgettable moments for fishing and water sports. South from Tsigov chark rises Golyama Syutkya mountain top, which is suitable for pedestrian tours or bicycle climbing. The top reveals splendid panoramic view of the Rodopi Mountain.
Alpine ski run with length of 1500 meters was constructed in the mountain. The average displacement is about 50-100 meters and is suitable for skier beginners and amateurs. The ski run is equipped with two rope ski tow-lifts with hand-grips and one clay pigeon tow-lift. Next to the ski run is set a route for ski running with length of 20 000 meters.
Many chalets and hotels are at your service in the area if you want to relax in the beauty and fresh air of Rodopi Mountain.
At summer time the bank of Batak Dam is a wonderful place for the lovers of camp holidays, because they can easily put a caravan or a tent in the marked places.

The close biosphere reserve Mantaritsa has preserved centuries old virgin coniferous forests. The spruce trees are about 100-130 years old and their average height is 22-27 meters. Several trees are more than 40 meters high. The reserve gives place for big mammals typical for our forests - red deer, doe, wild-boar, brown bear, fox, etc. Mantaritsa keeps the biotope of wood-grouse capercailzie, which is numerous.
