Roman is an administrative centre of Roman municipality, Vratsa region

The town is situated 42 km east from Vratsa city, 29 km in the same direction from Mezdra, 25 km south from Cherven bryag and 120 km north-east from Sofia city

Roman is located in The Danube plain, on the riverside of Iskar, on 150 m altitude. 
The population counts about 3200 people. 

The town comprises with many shops, restaurants, cafes, a disco club, snack bars, a church and stadium. There are an operating kinderten, elementary and secondary schools, auxiliary school, library. 
Roman has bus and railway stations providing transport links with the whole country. The highway Sofia-Varna passes about 25 km away from town. 
The guests of Roman can stay in villas or in the holiday homes of the Monastery of Strupeshki which is 10 km away from town. 

Roman has rich history- remains from Roman fortress were found during excavations. The town was constructed on remains of a settlement from the Bronze Age. After the Liberation, the town started developing fast because of the railway station. 
Today, the production of bread, sweets, the processing of meat and milk, the working of metal and etc. are well-developed in Roman. 

The town offers huge opportunity for development of hunting and fishing tourism as well as eco-tourism because of its good location and splendid nature.
One of the most beaufitul rock elements in the country are situated near the villages of Kameno pole, Kunino and Radovene.
