Archar is a village in Dimovo municipality, Vidin region.

It is located 30 km northeast of Dimovo, 27 km southeast of Vidin, 28 km west of Lom and about 170 north of Sofia.

The village is situated on the banks of rivers Archar and Barzartsi, near the Danube. The altitude ranges from 60 to 90 meters. The climate is characterized by cold winters and hot, dry summers.

The population outnumbers 2710 people, making Archar the largest village in the municipality. Bus transport connects it with neighboring villages and towns.

There are a town hall, post office, shops and a bank branch in Archar. Here are also a school, a kindergarten, a police station and the church "Assumption." Medical care is covered by a general practitioner and dentist, and the nearest hospital is located in the city of Vidin. The village has a guest house which offers accommodation for tourists.
 
Sightseeing:

2 km west of the village is the ancient city Ratsiaria. It was founded during the Roman Empire, and during II - IV century developed as a crafts and business center. During excavations in the area have been found preserved walls, cemeteries and gold coins.

In addition, with guests of the village can see the City History Museum, housed in an interesting building of the old municipal government and foundations of the ancient fortress Almus, which are among the most popular attractions of Lom.

In the city of Dimovo is situated the church "St. Constantine and Elena ", which was built in 1902
