Atia is a village in southeastern Bulgaria, part of Sozopol Municipality, Bourgas Region.

It is 23 km southeast of Bourgas and 15 km northwest of Sozopol.

The population is about 1200 inhabitants.

The village is divided into two quarters – Atia and Minior.

Close to Atia is located the biggest Bulgarian naval base.

The terrain is lowland, with an average altitude of about 14 m.

The climate in the region is Mediterranean, with dry summers characterized by average temperatures around 26ºC and mild and wet winters with average temperatures about 1ºC.

The village is well-developed with excellent infrastructure, including electrification, water-main and sewerage, telephone, internet and cable TV.

Regular bus transport connects it with the cities of Burgas and Sozopol, and smaller settlements in the area.

There are primary school, kindergarten, community center and now chapel is being constructed with the donation and the voluntary work of the villagers. There is a well-developed commercial network and cafes.

A general practitioner serves the villagers.

 

Places of interest and tourism

The beach is situated about 3 km from the village of and the seawater is crystal clear with temperature in the summer around 25ºC. There are good conditions for swimming and fishing.

The convenient connection of the village with Burgas allows visits to visit the attractions in the town.

The island of Sv. Anastasia is located between Cape Sv. Atanas cape and Cape Atia, where there are few places for accommodation, restaurant and a church.
