Austa is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in the municipality of Momchilgrad, Kardzhali region.

The village of Austa is located in the southeastern part of the Eastern Rhodopes. It is located about 17 km southeast from the municipal center Momchilgrad, about 32 km southeast from the town of Kardzhali, about 295 km southeast from the capital Sofia.

The terrain is mountainous and the altitude of the village is 488 m.

The climate is moderate continental to Mediterranean, characterized by long hot summers and mild winters.

The land in the area is suitable for growing grapes, tobacco, fruit and cereals.

The population is around 230 people.

The village has a town-hall and the nearest community center, nursery, kindergarten, and the nearest schools are located in Momchilgrad. The nearest general hospital is in the district town of Kardzhali.

TOURIST SIGHTS

In the vicinity there are many natural attractions that draw tourists. Some of the most famous tourist attractions are religious complex "Elmala baba" in the village of Bovolyane, Harman Kaya, the natural phenomenon "Vkmenenata gora", which is the land of the village of Raven and forest park "Momchil yunak" which is with developed infrastructure, tourism name and excellent conditions for recreation, sport and relaxation. Nearby is the "Tatul" complex which comprises an ancient pagan temple and a medieval fortress. "Tatul" is an unique monument - as history and as architecture, and construction.
