Bagra is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in the municipality of Kardzhali, Kardzhali region.

It is about 13 km northwest from the city of Kardzhali, about 47 km northeast from the town of Ardino, about 91 km southeast from the city of Plovdiv and about 260 km southeast from the capital Sofia city.

The population of the village of Bagra is around 83 people.

The village is situated in the Eastern Rhodopes, at an altitude of about 523 m. The region, in which Bagra is situated, is mountainous. Here the winter is mild and the summer is warm.

Administratively the village belongs to the neighboring village of Skalna glava. In the village of Kostino /about 4 km from Bagra/ is the nearest post office, primary school, kindergarten, general practitioner, community center and stores, and the closest hospitals are in the city of Kardzhali.

Landmarks and tourism

Around Kostino there is the natural landmark Skalen prozorets. Skalen prozorets is the same age as the Stone Wedding and the Stone mushrooms, and it is formed from similar materials and in a similar way. Skalen prozorets is located in the Golyam dol area and it is a magnificent natural rock bridge formed by the waters of the Kostinsko ravine. The area of ​​the ravine is very beautiful and the site is suitable for tourism route with a guide.

Not far away, about 30 km from the village, is the historic landmark Perperikon - archaeological complex consisting of a large megalithic sanctuary, ancient monuments and a medieval fortress.

The village of Bagra is located about 10 kilometers from Kardzhali dam, which is a wonderful place for relaxation, sun-bathing and water sports. Nearby there are several restaurants, villas and hotels. It is one of the largest dams in the country and the fishing here is very diverse - catfish, whitefish, sturgeon, and American trout, carp, chub, perch, bleak, rudd, etc.
