Batak is a village in the municipality of Pavlikeni, Veliko Tarnovo region
It’s 4 km from Karaisen village, 13 km from Pavlikeni, 40 km Svishtov, 50km from Veliko Tarnovo. Sofia is on 230 km and Varna – 250 km.
The region is ecologically clean with well-developed agricultural development. It’s famous with its vineyards, wine production and wine-cellars. Near the village there’s a dam, which is suitable for fishing.
There are found traces from the primitive people, lived in the Late Paleolithic Age. 4 km from Pavlikeni is the sole ceramic centre on the Balkan Peninsula, which dates from the Thracian-Romanian period.
There are interesting objects and memorial places that remind of riots against Ottoman Empire. The most significant of them are marked with a monument and are very preserved. Such places are the districts Kosmatisa near Varbovka, Kandladere near Vishovgrad, Karapanova koria and etc.
There’s a village-hall, a Primary school /”St. Kiril and Metodii Primary School/, day nursery, active library club “Sabuzhdane” which offers dancing band, folk choir and a library.
The main road Sofia-Ruse is only on 8 km. There is also good communication with Pavlikeni and Svishtov.
