Bezvoditza is a village in North-East Bulgaria, part of Balchik municipality, Dobrich region. It is located 23 km north-west to the town of Balchik and the sea-coast, 12 km north-east to the town of Dobrich and 65 km northwest to the city of Varna.
Bezvoditza is a small village, located near Balchik-Dobrich road, next to a beautiful forest area. The climate is temperate-continental featured by a hot summer, a sunny autumn, a cold winter with plenty of snowfalls and a cool spring. The village has a rather favourable location. It is surrounded by forests and small lakes which protect it from winds and are a great habitat for various species of migratory birds which are the main attraction in the village. The population numbers to approximately 380 people. Altitude - 278 sq. m.
The former name of the village used to be Susus Kyoy, which means "waterless village" in Turkish.
In the village there is a kindergarten, a youth club with a discotheque, a doctor's office, a football play-field, food shops, a bistro, an ostrich farm. All properties in the village are supplied with water and electricity on a regular basis. In the village there are 9 wells one of which exists since Roman times. The roads are in a very good condition. Regular bus transportation is available to the town of Dobrich and the nearby villages. Free transportation to schools in Dobrich is organised for the pupils from the village.
Bezvoditza is famous for the great number of stork's nests as the legend has it that storks bring good health and happiness.
The local people are predominantly engaged into stock-breeding and farming as the land is being cultivated by two agricultural co-operations. The land is generous and suitable for growing sun-flower, rape-seed and wheat.
The proximity to the town of Dobrich, good transportation links, beautiful nature and the ecologically clean environment are all excellent predispositions for the development of rural and eco tourism. The ostrich farm attracts many people, curious to take a closer look at these peculiar birds.
