Borets is a village in southern Bulgaria, part of Brezovo Municipality, Plovdiv Region.

It is situated about 37 km northeastern direction of Plovidov, about 16 km northwestern direction of the town of Brezovo and 14 km northernwestern direction of the town of Rakovski.

The population is about 830 inhabitants.

The terrain is plain with average altitude of 200 m.
The winters there are mild and have temperatures about 0°С and in the summers are warm with temperatures about 26°С.

The village has well-developed infrastructure that includes roads, electricity, water main and partly sewerage installation, telephone lines, internet and cable TV.

In the village there is a town-hall, school, kindergarten, community center and two churches. Also there are shops and cafes.

A general practitioner serves the needs of the inhabitants.

 

Places of interest and tourism

The natural resources, clean air and water, green forests and rich historical heritage of the region creates conditions for developing different types of tourism. Surnena Sredna Gora offers hiking routes for lovers of eco trails and extreme tourism.

The municipality has 82 dams, which offer excellent conditions for water sports. The two huts, "Brothers and"Svejen" provide conditions for the development of the equestrian and hunting tourism.

At about 57 km northeast lies the town of Pavel Banya, famous for its mineral springs used for the treatment of diseases of the musculoskeletal system, peripheral nervous and gynecological diseases. The balneological center helps for the development of spa and medical tourism.
