Bozhurtsi is a village in Southern Bulgaria. It is located in the municipality of Chernoochene, Kardzhali Region.

It is located about 3 km west of the village of Chernoochene, about 17 km north of the town of Kardzhali, about 34 km south-west of the town of Haskovo, about 83 km south-east of Plovdiv and about 253 km in the same direction of the capital Sofia city.

The population is about 245 people.

The village is situated in the Eastern Rhodopes at an altitude about 564 m. The climate in the region is characterized by hot summers and mild winters.

The Kardzhali Dam is located about 19 km south of the village of Bozhurtsi.

Bozhurtsi has good transport connections as well as electricity and water supply systems.

The nearest hospital, health center, school, kindergarten, community center and library are located in the village of Chernoochene and the nearest general hospital is in Kardzhali.

 

TOURISM

The region has many natural landmarks attracting tourists from all over the country. One of them is the Kardzhali dam, which is a great place for recreation, beach, water sports and fishing during the summer. The dam is one of the largest in the country.

The medieval complex Perperikon located about 19 km south-east of the village. The complex is believed to be a Thracian temple of Dionysus. It is part of a The hundred national travel sites of Bulgaria.
