Bukovets is a village in the municipality of Vidin, Vidin region. 
  
In Bulgaria there are another four villages bearing the same name - in Svoge Municipality, Sofia region, Veliko Turnovo municipality, region of Veliko Turnovo, municipality of Byala Slatina, Vratsa District, in municipality of Brusartsi, Montana region. 
  
It is located about 12 km south-west of Vidin, 30 km north-east of town of Kula and about 2 km north-west of the town Dunavtsi. The distance to Sofia is about 230 km. 
  
The village is situated in the Danube Valley, on the riverside of Voynishka river. Bukovets is set 9 km away from the Danube river. The climate is characterized by cold and windy winters, while summer is hot. 
  
The population numbers about 700 people. Several British families own properties in Bukovets as well. 
There is regular bus transport to and from town of Vidin. 
  
The village has shops, a pub, a kindergarten.There is range of all mobile operators, Internet and cable TV available. Medical care is covered by a general practitioner and dentist. The nearest school and hospital are located in the town of Vidin. 
  
The guest of Bukovets can visit the monument of the Memorial, located in the village center. Another interesting landmark is the St. Ivan Rilski monastery which was built in XIV century under the reign of Tsar Ivan Stracimir . The monastery is situated about 4 km away from the village.
