Village of Tsareva livada

Tsareva livada is a village in the municipality Dryanovo, Gabrovo region.

It is located 5 km south of Dryanovo, 17 km northeast of Gabrovo, 8 km north of Tryavna and about 220 km east of Sofia.

The village is situated at the foot of the Balkan Mountain, on the riverside of Dryanovska, at an altitude of 405 m climate is characterized by mild winters and cool summers.

The population is about 770 people. There are regular rail to Dryanovo and nationwide.

Tsareva livada has electricity and water supply. It has a town hall, kindergarten, shops and restaurants. There are several guesthouses as well. Nearest schools and hospitals are in Dryanovo.

At the time of Tsar Ivan Asen II the village was located his summer palace. Beside him were in meadows where horses grazed the king. Since there is derived the name of the village - Tsareva meadow.


Landmarks and tourism


Near the village is Strinava historical site where remains of walls and foundations of buildings. Is located near the birthplace of kings Asen and Peter, where later had stood their summer residence.
