Florentin is a village in northwestern Bulgaria. It is located in the municipality of Novo Selo, Vidin region.

It is situated in a hollow on the banks of the Danube river, the lowest point is 33 meters in the mouth of a small river flowing through the village, 18 km northwest from the town of Vidin, 6 km southeast of the municipal center of Novo Selo and 214 km in the same direction from Sofia.

The population of the village is about 390 people.

The soil and the climate in the area are favorable for the development of viticulture, wine production and rural tourism. There are gardens along the river in which grow vegetables. The population earn their living primarily through agriculture and fishing. More than half of the land area is vineyards.

Children can be taught in the near village of Novo Selo. Residents can rely on medical care by two GPs and a dentist again there, the closest medical institutions are in the town of Vidin.

Through the village passes road № 122 from Vidin to Bregovo.

The highest point in the village area is Bachovoto peak- 216 meters, located in the vineyards. Since it rises a little river around 4 km long.

There are senior club for adults, farmyard (1 km southeast from the center of the village), church, community center, post office, stadium.

LANDMARKS AND TOURISM:

The proximity to the Danube river allows fishing and recreation.

There is a church with beautiful iconostasis in Florentin.

There is an island- Florentin 200 metres away from the coast, it only appears when the water level is low, otherwise it is under water, only a few trees are above it.

There are four springs in the village.

In Vidin attractive for tourists are: the Baba Vida fortress, dating from the 10th century and related to the defense of the city during the Middle Ages, the Kaleto fortress, the Cruciform barracks with ethnographic exhibition, the Turkish Konak Koluka, the Mosque and the library of Osman Pazvantaglu, the cathedral Sveti Dimitar, the Mausoleum of the first Bulgarian Exarch Antim I and others.
