General Marinovo is a village in the municipality of Vidin , Vidin region.

It is located 10 km northwest of the town of Vidin, 66 km in the same direction from the town of Lom and about 203 km again in the same direction from Sofia.

General Marinovo has a regular transport to the town of Vidin.

The village is situated near the Danube river. The climate is characterized by cold winters and hot, dry summers. The average altitude is 76 meters. The area has favorable climate and terrain for the development of viticulture. There are two large vineyards which produce raw materials for the cellar in the neighboring village Ruptsi .

The population numbers about 145 people.

General Marinovo has a fully built electricity and water supply systems and a range of mobile operators. The nearest school, kindergarten and hospital are located in the town of Vidin.

The village is named after the Bulgarian military figure - Krustyo Marinov Major.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR TOURISM:

The area is suitable for development of fishing tourism due to proximity to the Danube.

St Peter area is located nearby, there are a few caves there. One of them is the Muzikalnata peshtera which is said to have three exits - in Bulgaria, Serbia and Romania. The cave takes its name from the fact that the water that drips from the vaults, sounds like a music box.
There is a monument of Krastio Marinov major in the vellage.

Interesting opportunities for tourism offers Vidin, where are the fortress "Baba Vida", the mausoleum of patriarch Antim I and many other attractions are situated. 

Another interesting destination is the town of Lom, which is located about 60 km away. There are a historical museum, the ancient fortress Almus, center "Perseverance" building of the former School of Pedagogy, Borunskata church and others.
