Gorni Yurutzi is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in the municipality of Krumovgrad, Kardzhali region.

The village is located 47 km away from the municipality centre Krumovgrad, about 95 km away from Kardzhali and about 335 km away from the capital city Sofia. Very close to it is the village of Dolni Yurutzi.

Gorni Yurutzi's population is 96 people, according to the data from the last population count in 2010.

Gorni Yurutzi stands at an altitude of 460 m. The weather is warm in the winter and hot in the summer. The terrain is hilly. The Turkish word "Yuruk", which defines the name of this village means "a sheep barn".

People around here have been growing tobacco in the past, as well as now. The soil in the area is very suitable for this.   Livestock breeding is also popular amongst Gorni Yurutzi's people. The women in the village have mastered great skills in knitting and weaving. Bulgarian mobile operators provide good coverage. The village is electrified and water supplied. There is a school bus, taking kids from all over this area to school. The nearest school is located in the village of Avren at about 33 km away from Dolni Yurutzi. In the same village could be found the nearest library, church, chapel and kindergarten. The nearest post office is in the village of Chernichevo (25 km away), and the nearest hospital - in Kardzhali.

This village's area is very аppropriate for developing hunting because of the wild bore and roe's good population. Here could also be seen wolves, foxes, hedgehogs and the recently endangered turtle species. Recently this region has become popular amongst the mountain bikers because of its natural prerequisites.

LANDMARKS AND TOURISM

One of the most interesting landmarks in Gorni Yurutzi's area is the "St.Nicholas the Wondermaker" church in the village of Avren.Other landmarks in this village are the chapel, built after the demolished church in the Selishteto locality; the old  "St.Iliya" church - next to it is the oldest school.
In Avren there is a Monument to the fallen ones in The Balkan Wars. 

There is an area in the town of Krumovgrad, which is tought to be interesting to the tourists. It is a cultural monument and contains some old houses on "Saedinenie"Str in Krumovgrad's historical district, along with some tobacco storehouses and the "Seytliar Jamisi" mosque, built in 1955.

For Krumovgrad's cultural-historical heritage could be found evidence in over 2000 specimens, collected in a musseum selection set on an exhibition area of over 250 sq m. The exhibition is divided into separate sections: archeology, new history and ethnography. It is opened in 1971 and is situated in a 1901 building, declared to be a cultural monument.
