Kavrakirovo is a village in South-western Bulgaria, part of Petrich Municipality, Blagoevgrad Region.
It is 80 km south-west from town of Blagoevgrad, 10 km north from town of Petrich, 162 km south from city of Sofia, 21 km east from Zlatarevo checkpoint at the Bulgarian-Macedonian border and 27 km north-west from village of Kulata at the Bulgarian-Greek border. Neighbouring villages are Mihnevo and Parvomay.
The population is approximately 1580 people.
Kavrakirovo spreads out the southern foot of Ograzhden Mountain in the Petrichka valley. It is 97 m above the sea level. The climate is transitional Mediterranean and characterizes with hot summer and mild winter. Strumeshnitsa River passes nearby and surrounds the settlement from southern direction.
Kavrakirovo is a big and well-developed village. It is provided with electricity, water and all needed communication equipment (including cable TV and Internet). Sewerage system is in progress of construction.
There is a town-hall, a comprehensive school, a kindergarten, a community centre with dance group and library, a football team, a post office, a doctor, dentists and different commercial areas.
Kavrakirovo is popular with its hereditary musicians - zourla players. It is one of the main centres of zourla traditions in Bulgaria.
Local place of interest is the orthodox church of St Iliya. Next to it is the luminous cross rising above the village.
