Kesarevo

Kesarevo is a village, situated on the border between the Fore-Balkan and the Danube Plain, in the municipality of Strazhitsa, Veliko Tarnovo region.

Location


Kesarevo is in the northeastern part of Veliko Tarnovo region. It’s 12 km from Strazhitsa and 30 km from Veliko Tarnovo. Sofia is on 250 km and Varna on 180 km.

Tourism


It’s in a slightly hilly district, in the Fore-Balkan in ecologically clean area. The village is suitable for hunting, because it’s close to the mountain. There’s also a huge variety of animals – deer, red deer, wild-boar, badger, fox, wolf and rabbit.

The climate is temperate and favourable for the growing of much agricultural products. Grain-production, vine-growing, vegetable-growing, dairy stock-breeding, poultry-raising, bee-keeping and logging are the basic branches in the region.

Stara reka River which rises from near Vratnik passage in the Eleno-Tvardishki Balkan runs through the village. The river splits the middle and eastern part of Fore-Balkan and is perfect for sports fishing, eco and rural tourism. There’re great opportunities for investment in the sphere of tourism and agriculture in Kesarevo.

Architecture in the region is attractive and most of the houses there are built in Bulgarian Revival style.

There’s a protected area near Kesarevo, known as “Zhelezartsi”, where can be seen forest plantations, character for the region.

Another attraction is “St. Marina” spring, which rises once a year and according to the local people it possesses healing powers. There’s also a Roman path in Kesarevo, which attracts many tourists.

There’re two cottages provide accommodations, which offer all facilities for tourists.

Infrastructure


There’s a village-hall, a primary school, a cultural club, a day nursery, a church, a dress-making factory, poultry slaughterhouse, some shops and a pastry shop. It is power and water supplied; there’s also local cable TV.

The roads in Kesarevo are third-class, but it’s only 1 km from the main road Sofia- Varna, which facilitates its connections with the largest municipalities and villages in the region.
