Krayno selo is a village situated in Southern Bulgaria. It is part of Kardzhali Municipality, Kardzhali region.

It is located about 4 km west of the center of  Kardzhali, 35 km north-east of Ardino, 48 km south-west of Haskovo, 278km in the same direction of Burgas and 244 km south-east of the city of Sofia.

Krayno selo is set on the banks of Kardzhali Dam in the Eastern Rhodopes. Summers are sunny and hot. Winters are quite mild. The altitude is approximately 238 m.

Its population is approximately 167 people.

Krayno selo is provided with water and electricity. The close proximity to Kardzhali determines its good infrastructure and the excellent transport sonnections. There is a town hall here. In the village of Enchets /less than 3 km in the north-west/ you will find the nearest post office, health services, school and kindergarten. The nearest hospitals are in Kardzhali.

TOURISM

Kardzhali Dam is the perfect place for recreation, sun-bathing and practicing water sports in the summer. There are many hotels, restaurants and villas constructed in close proximity. The dam is one of the biggest in the country. Interesting tourist attraction are the floating pontoons-restaurants offering rich fish menu. Tourists may try water bicycles, jets and water ski. Modern row base is located near the village. 

Fishing here is quite various. The waters of the dam are inhabited by brook trout, sturgeon, carp, amour, chub, perch, etc.

Interesting landmarks in the region are also:

  • The medieval complex of Perperikon /24 km north-east/ which is one of the 100 Tourist Sites of Bulgaria;
