Village of Kriva bara is located in the municipality Brusartsi, Montana region. 
  
In Bulgaria there is another village bearing the same name - in the Municipality of Kozloduy, District Vratsa. 
  
It is situated 2 km north of Brusartsi, 39 km north-west from Montana, 23 km west of Lom, 2 km west of Knyazheva mahala and about 145 km north of Sofia. 
  
The village is set in the Danube Plain, on the riverside of Lom. The climate is characterized by cold winters and warm summers. 
  
The population is around 1000. 
  
Kriva bara is electrified and water supplied but there is no sewer built at the moment. There are several food shops, pubs, shop, church and town hall. There are also an elementary school, kindergarten and community center. There is also a GP. 
Regular bus and train transport linking it with the whole country. 
  
There is no accommodation for tourists in the village. 
Interesting attractions in the area are the bridge that passes over the Lom River and was built in the 30 years of XX century, Brusarski Monastery and the ancient fortress Almus in Lom.
