Makresh is a village in the municipality of Makresh, Vidin region. 

It is located 35 km south-west of Vidin, 25 km north of the town of Belogradchik and about 5 km from the main road Vidin - Montana. 

It is situated on the riverside of Vidbol, at an altitude of 194 m. 
The population numbers about 450 people. 

Makresh has electricity and water supply systems, sewage is partially built. All mobile operators have coverage, internet and cable TV are available. There are a municipality building, two grocery stores, a restaurant, several cafes and a church. There are a primary school, kindergarten, the medical care is taken by a GP and dentist. There is regular bus transport to and from Vidin. 5 km away is set the railway Makresh station, which connects the village with the whole country. 

The guest of Makresh can visit the following landmarks in the region:

"Magura" cave which is located about 5 km away from the vullage. The cave is one of the most beautiful in the country, a part of the One hundred tourist sites. 
Belogradchik Rocks - perhaps the most famous rock formations in Bulgaria. 
Rabisha Lake - the largest inland lake in the country. 
Rakovishki monastery "St. Trinity", founded during the Middle Ages. Here in 1848 was opened the first secular school in northwestern Bulgaria.
