Pchelishte is a village in Veliko Tarnovo municipality, Veliko Tarnovo region.

It is 12 km from Veliko Tarnovo, 20 km southwest from Zlataritsa, 12 km south of Lyaskovets and about 235 km from Sofia.

It is situated in the Danube valley, at an altitude of 347 m climate is characterized by hot, dry summers and cold winters.

The population is about 630 people. There is a regular bus service (line № 77) to Veliko Tarnovo and the surrounding settlements.

The village has a post office, community center, a home for the blind and kindergarten. Pchelishte has three grocery stores, two convenience stores and building materials, restaurant, cafe, snack bar and tavern. The closest school is situated in the village Tserova koriya / 2 km / and inpatient care you can get in Veliko Tarnovo.


The old name of the village is Kovanluk - from the Turkish word "forged" which means "bee."

Pchelishte guests can see the following sites:

• The church "St. Assumption "in the village, whose bell tower was built by Kolyo Ficheto. The church is the second in which he painted wheel of life
• On the outskirts of the village Prisovo / 6 km / lies Prisovo monastery "St. Archangel Michael". The monastery was founded in the 15th century as a literary school. He has held rebels, revolutionaries and Renaissance. He was burned down several times, but with the help of many peasants and philistines is raised again in the mid-19th century.
• 15 km is located Kapinovo monastery "St. Nicholas" - one of the most beautiful and visited monasteries in the country. Each year the town hosts motorcycle festival
