Podrumche is a village in Sothern Bulgaria. It is part of the municipality of Krumovgrad, Kardzhali Region.

It is located 9 km southeast of Krumovgrad, 56 km in the same direction of  Kardzhali and about 297 km of the capital Sofia city. 

Podrumche is situated in the Eastern Rhodopes in a mountainous area at an altitude about 410 m. It is part of the Meditteranean climate zone which determines the relatively mild winter and the hot summer.

The population is about 395 people.

Podrumche has relatively good infrastructure - the roads are in good condition, it has water and electricity supply, bus transport connects it with the municipality center Krumovgrad.

There is a primary school and the nearest kindergarten is located in the village of Kamenka / 8 km in the north /. Medical assistance can be obtained  in the municipal town - there are a multiprofile hospital and a health center there. The nearest secondary school is also located there.

 

LANDMARKS AND TOURISM

The landmark Rock tomb - sanctuary near the village of Rogach is located only 8 km north-west of Podrumche. The tomb is revered by local people as sacred. It is located on a rock on the right bank of the River Krumovitsa. There are two small deep holes on the rocks which remind of human feet. Locals call the latter "The steps of Ali" (a Muslim saint).

The White River can be seen 20 km in the south-east. The river is the first in the Eastern Rhodopes to be declared a part of the ecological network "NATURA 2000". The river forms different shapes called "The meandres of the White River" troughout its course.

The church "St. Nikolai" in the near village of Avren is also interesting as well as the chapel built on the place of the demolished church in the area of Selishteto and the annual traditional fair in Avren.
