Poibrene is a village in Southern Bulgaria. It is located in Municipality of Panagyurishte, District of Pazardjik.

It stands about 18 km east of the municipal center of Panagyurishte, about 61 km north-west of the town of Pazardjik, about 41 km north-west of Ihtiman, about 30 km of Trakia Motorway and about 63 km away from Sofia.

The village of Poibrene is situated on the left riverbank of Topolitsa River, above Topolitsa reservoir. Its location, far from industrial areas, creates conditions for the cultivation and development of bio production such as honey and bee products.

Daily, there are 3 regular buses to and from Sofia, and 5 buses to and from the town of Panagyurishte.

The relief is highland and hilly, with average altitude about 465 m.
The climate is continental, with warm summers and cold winters.

The village streets are partly asphalted and lighted. There are telephones, Internet and water supply system.

The population of Poibrene is about 875 residents.

The village has a town house, community center, church, school, kindergarten, post office, a bank, as well as 3 grocery shops, restaurant, café, hotel, guest houses and SPA.

There is a GP in the neighboring village of Oborishte, about 8 km east of Poibrene, and the closest hospital is in the town of Panagyurishte.

 

Attractions

In 1972 in the village of Poibrene, a mineral water source with depth of 610 m and temperature of 42°C was discovered. In 1979 a Spa center was built. The water is with proven record of curing at least 10 health problems.
Developing in the area are the rural and spa tourism, hunting and fishing.

The numerous archeological and historical monuments in the municipality of Panagyurishte testify to the rich ancient past of the area. The unique Panagyurishte gold treasure, a number of Thracian necropolis, tombs and temples, many medieval castles and fortresses contribute to the development of cultural tourism.
