The village of Prespa is part of Dobrich region and is located 17 km away from the town of Dobrich, 70 km away from the city of Varna and 20 km away from the town of Balchik.
The population numbers to approximately 250 people. The climate is temperate-continental. It is characterized by a hot and sunny summer and a snowy winter, which explains the name of the village /Prespa is the Bulgarian for a snow-drift/. The former name of the village used to be Karlibeykyoy, which in Turkish means the "village of the snowy master". The legend has it that in old times a great Turkish ruler had a bad fall off his horse but a snow-drift has miraculously saved his life and the incident gave the name of the village.
In the village of Prespa there is a kindergarten, a food-shop, a children's playground and a pensioner's club, house in the local community center and a bistrot, where locals would meet to have a coffee and chat. The pupils from Prespa are being transported by a school-bus to the school in the nearby village of Senokos /3 km away from the village/ on a daily basis.
The village is attractive for its location right in the middle between Balchik and Dobrich and is less than 20 km away from the sea-coast. English citizens have already bought properties in the village. as some of them even reside there year-round. The inhabitants of the village  are engaged into farming, stock-breeding and gardening. The vast fertile fields near the village are cultivated by private lease-holders.
