Prolaznitsa is a village in northwestern Bulgaria. It is located in Belogradchik municipality, Vidin District.

The village is about 7 km southwest of Belogradchik, 60 km from Vidin in the same direction and approximately 175 km northwest of Sofia.

The terrain is mountainous and the average altitude reaches 494 meters. Climate is continental, characterized by cold winters and hot summers.

The village has electricity and water, the streets are partially paved. There is mobile phone coverage and bus to the municipality center.

Prolaznitsa has a population of 12 people. The village has a shop and an elementary school acted years ago. Currently, the closest one is in Belogradchik. Again, there is the nearest kindergarten, school, general practitioners and specialized medical care.

 

Landmarks and tourism

Prolaznitsa occured at the end of the 17th and early 18th century, and the first settlers were from the western suburbs. The name of the village comes from the path that connects it to Belogradchik - narrow and steep.

In its vicinity is situated the cave Yankulova dupka, and less than 4 km northeast in a straight line is the central and most impressive group of the rock phenomenon Belogradchik Rocks. They are a natural landmark and a part of the hundred national tourist sites.
A walk along the cliffs and the fortress "Kaleto" can be combined with a visit to the Historical and Natural science museums, the Astronomic Observatory and the Art Gallery in Belogradchik.
