Slana bara is a village in northwestern Bulgaria. It is located in the municipality of Vidin, District of Vidin.

It is situated 7 km southwest of the town of Vidin, 57 km north of Belogradchik and about 196 km northwest of Sofia city.

The name of the village comes from the words - small river, wet, humid place.

The climate is characterized by cold winters and hot, dry summers . The Altitude is 35 m.

The population numbers about 500 people. Residents are growing crops. There is a developed winery and viticulture.

The village has a fully built electricity and water supply systems, mobile coverage, cable TV and Internet. There are town hall, post office, medical center, church, library, and football field in Slana bara. The nearest school and hospital are located in the town of Vidin.

The village has regular transport to the town of Vidin and a railway station of the line Mezdra-Vidin.

 

OPPORTUNITIES FOR TOURISM:

There is a church, built in 1856.

The area is suitable for development of fishing tourism due to proximity to the Danube. 

Interesting opportunities for tourism offers Vidin, where are the fortress "Baba Vida", the mausoleum of patriarch Antim I and many other attractions are situated. 

Another interesting destination is the town of Lom, which is located about 60 km away. There are a historical museum, the ancient fortress Almus, center "Perseverance" building of the former School of Pedagogy, Borunskata church and others.
