Stryama is a village is southern Bulgaria, part of Rakovski Municipality, Plovdiv Region.

It is about 26 km northeaster direction from the town of Plovdiv, 7 km from the town of Rakovski, 50 km southern from the town of Karlovo and about 45 km southeaster direction from the SPA resort Hisaria.

The population is about 4000 inhabitants.

The terrain is plain with average altitude of 150 m.
The climate in the area is transcontinental with mild winter with temperatures about 0ºС and a warm summer with temperatures about 23ºС.

The infrastructure is well-developed and includes electricity, water-main, sewerage installation, telecommunications and cable TV. Through the village the gas main with a capacity of 15000 cubic meters goes through.

Regular bus transport connects it with ne close settlements. About 7 km away is situated Trakya highway.

There is a secondary school, kindergarten, community center, church.
There are two general practitioners to serve the needs of the inhabitants.

Economy

The terrain and climate, fertile soils give opportunities for growing various crops and agriculture.
The main occupation is in the industries that make pumps, seats and pedals for the cars, PVC joinery. The industrial zone of Rakovski in the land of the village and has an area of 815 acres. It functions from July 2004 and offers excellent conditions for the business.

Places of interest and tourism

Close to the settlement is the Stryama River that gave the name of the village. 
  
This area has picturesque scenery, which creates opportunities for relaxation at the end of the week and for year-round living. There are opportunities for fishing and hunting, and close are situated the located spa resorts Banya and Hisaria. 
  
Close to Stryama is situated one of the most famous breeding stations in the country - Chekeritsa.It manages nearly 16,000 hectares of land. Because of their characteristic features is a natural breeding area for pheasant and the partridge, pigeon, quail and turtle doves.
