TOURISM

You can find lots of culture and natural landmatks in the area of Svoboda which are interesting for Bulgarian and foreign tourist.

In the area between the settlements of the villages of Gruevo and Letovnik /5 km in the north/ you can visit a mountain height, known as "Dambala" among local people. In a picturesque area among a deciduous forest on a high rock cliff you can see abundantly flowing water. A fountain with several spouts is constructed at its foot. There is a belief that at midnight on 5th May the water acquires miraculous power and treats various diseases.

The medieval complex Perperikon is located at about 31 km north-east of the village. It is supposed to have been the Thracian sanctuary of the Roman God Dionysus. The complex is part of the 100 National Tourist sites.

The Stone Mushrooms are located near the village of Beli plast, at about 32 km north of the village of Svoboda. The natural phenomena reach 2,5-3 m height. The rocks with the shape of mushrooms were carved in volcanic rhyolite tuffs. Their pink colour comes from the minerals kloinoptilolit and the blue and black spots are caused by the manganese nodules. The greenish color comes from minerals seladonit. The area where the rock formations are placed was declared natural phenomenon in 1974.
