Targovishte is a village in northwestern Bulgaria, Chuprene Municipality, Vidin Region.

It is located 4 km northeast of the municipal center Chuprene village, 20 km southeast of Belogradchik city, 73 km southwest of the town of Vidin and 152 kilometers northwest of Sofia city.

The village was founded in the XVIII century by traders operating in the area which gave the name of the place. It is the newest village among its neighbours.

The climate is temperate and mountainous, the average altitude reaches 499 m.

The population of Targovishte numbers 119 people.

The village doesn't offer educational and medical services. There are dentist, GP, primary school and kindergarten in the nearest village of Chuprene.

Targovishte has electricity and water, the streets are paved with street lighting, mobile phone coverage and transport to the surrounding villages.

Tourisum and landmarks:


There is a church "St. Nicholas", restored and maintained by donations from residents, and Memorial of the fallen in the wars.

Chuprenska river passes through the village. It is suitable for recreation and fishing.

There is a forest- shaped like the bulgarian letter "З" and a cave called Tamnata dupka.

The village is near Chuprene biosphere reserve. The reserve was created in 1973 to preserve the northern coniferous forests of Bulgaria. In 1977 it was included in the list of biosphere reserves under the program "Man and Biosphere".
