Tаrnava is a village in the municipality of Byala Slatina, District Vratsa.

 

In Bulgaria there is another village which has the same name - in Tundzha municipality, Yambol District.

 

It is 7 km northwest of Byala Slatina, 52 km northeast of Vratsa, 18 km west of Knezha and about 160 km northeast of Sofia.

 

The village is situated in the Danube Plain, on the riverside of Skat. The population numbers about 2,500. There is regular bus transport to Byala Slatina and neighboring settlements.

 

Tarnava has fully developed electricity and water supply systems, coverage of mobile operators, Internet and cable TV available. There are hall, primary school, kindergarten, shops, pubs, two cafes. Medical care is taken over by two GPs and the nearest hospital is located in Byala Slatina.
Due to its immediate proximity to the municipal town Tarnava is preferred not only for recreation but also for living.

 

LANDMARKS:

 

The local church is one of the oldest in northwestern Bulgaria. There is a monument next to it in honor of the participants in the Russian-Turkish war.
The natural landmark "Bunch" is located in the village of Byala Slatina, which is the symbol of the city.
A fair is held  in Tarnava each year on the first of November.
