Valchanovo is a village in Sredets municipality, Burgas Province.

It is situated 20 km southwest of Sredets, 52 km in the same direction of Burgas and about 370 km southeast of Sofia.

It is situated in Strandzha mountain, at an altitude of 173 meters. The climate is moderate continental with Black Sea-Mediterranean influence. Winters are mild, spring is cool, summer is hot and dry, and autumn - warm and long.

The population is about 220. There is regular bus service to neighboring cities and municipality town.

The electricity and water supply networks are built, almost all the streets are paved and lighted. There are a town hall, community center, two shops and a restaurant in the village. Nearest kindergarten, school and hospital are in Sredets

 
Sightseeing:

 

  • Guests can visit the village church "Assumption", which was declared an architectural monument and Valchanovskoto inn, which is located only 3 km
  •  In the village Momina tsarkva  / 24 km / lies the church "St. Paraskeva" known for its rich fresco;
  •  30 km away in the village Debelt is the only reserve in Europe for dragonflies. He kept 19 species of these beautiful insects and attracts the interest of visitors and scholars from around the world. Near the village are the remains of ancient settlement Deultum, 705 which is an important Byzantine town between Bulgaria and Byzantium. In Debelt is the only studied in Europe medieval custom in which Byzantium paid a yearly tax to Bulgaria. In the village worked archaeological museum where artefacts are exposed.
