Zagrazhden is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in Banite Municipality, Smolyan region.

In Bulgaria there is another village with the same name in Gulyantsi Municipality, Pleven region.

Situated 29 km north from the village of Banite, 82 km northeast from the town of Smolyan, 68 km east from the town of Chepelare and 224 km southeast from the city of Sofia.

Located at 1300 m altitude on the border between Western and Eastern Rhodope Mountain. The climate is characterized by cool summer and moderately cold and sunny winter.

The permanent population is 320 people.

The village is with paved streets, electricity and water supply systems, there is a cable TV, Internet and mobile phone coverage.
In the village there are typical stone houses made entirely of stone and flat stones roofs, an old style of XIX century.
There is a town hall, library, post office, school, health center, two shops and a restaurant in Zagrazhden village. The nearest hospital is in town of Smolyan.

SIGHTS AND ATTRACTIONS

The village has a guest house and a few family hotels, offering excellent conditions for all tourists and visitors.

Zagrazhden eco path starts in the village, goes along the natural landmark Dobrin vir, waterfalls "Chistilishteto" and "Kozarnika", area "Dve topoli" and a Roman bridge.

Near the village of Davidkovo / 14 km / you can find a dam and a pond, full of carp and goldfish, carp, white and Moore trout.

Village of Banite is a resort center with national and international importance, mineral water with it health care features and built Spa complexes attract lots of people and tourists from the country and abroad.
Archaeological excavations have found the oldest handicrafts dating from II century. Ancient and medieval fortresses and roads carry tourists in the past.
