The village of Zmeevo is situated in the north-eastern region of Bulgaria and is part of Balchik municipality, Dobrich region. It is located 25 km to the north-west from the town of Dobrich. The Black Sea coast is 25 km away.

The international road to Romania, which has been entirely repaired is passing near Zmeevo.
There are evidences that the settlement has even existed in the antiquity. Not far from the current borders of the village there are tumuli where parts of utensils and coins, as well as jewellery of gold, copper and silver have been revealed. First legal records for the village are the ones found in Turkish registers dating back to the 16th century. The village was then known as YALARAK. A century ago there was a dense forest rising near the village. It has been completely cut down at the beginning of the 20th century  to provide space for the new settlers from Macedonia.

In the village there is a library, a pub, a cafe, a food shop, a church. Seven English families have bought houses in the village. The population numbers to 300 people.
The main occupation of the population is farming. On the territory of the village there is a functioning tailoring atelier, as well.
