Hadzhidimovo is a town in South-western Bulgaria. It is administrative centre of Hadzhidimovo Municipality, Blagoevgrad Region.

It is 114 km south-east from town of Blagoevgrad, 15 km in the same direction from town of Gotse Delchev, 27 km south-west from village of Satovcha, 158 km in the same direction from town of Plovdiv and 11 km away from the Bulgarian-Greek border. The capital Sofia is about 207 km away.

Town of Hadzhidimovo spreads out the river valley of Mesta, in the eastern slopes of Pirin Mountain. It is on 485 m above the sea level.

Summer is hot and winter - cold. The average July temperature is 21 C and average January one is from 0 C to -2 C.

The population is approximately 2 800 people.

Infrastructure

Hadzhidimovo is with well-developed infrastructure. It is provided with electricity, water, sewerage system and telecommunication equipment. There is a municipality building, a police station, a post office, a secondary school, a kindergarten, a community centre, health services and commercial areas.

Regular bus transportation to Sofia, Blagoevgrad, Gotse Delchev and Plovdiv.

The town is proud of its football team competing in 'V' South-western amateur group. 'Dimitar Lekin' stadium was opened by the previous mayor of the town - Dimitar Lekin.

Economics

There are several shoe factories managed by foreign contractors.
The means of living in the region is mainly in the tobacco growing.
Stock-breeding is in the private sector - sheep, cattle, goats, bees, etc.

Landmarks and tourism

In the year of 2008 was established the information tourist centre, where are displayed findings of the excavations in the area.

About 2 km away is the archeological monument of culture 'Late antique and medieval fortress' in St Dimitar land. The fortress is monument of culture. On its territory stands the chapel 'St Dimitar'.

St Martyr George Monastery in town of Hadzhidimovo is monument of culture as well. This is the biggest monastery complex in the river valley of Mesta and the third biggest in the South-western Bulgaria after the Rilski and Rozhenski Monasteries. It was built in 1864 and was burnt down twice by now. Among the valuable things in the monastery are - the wonder-working icon 'St George', dating 1750-1800, the iconostasis and the bishop's throne, restored to their authentic models. The monastery comprises hotel rooms as well.

The region of Hadzhidimovo is very convenient for recreation and tourism. 'Ali botush' reserve spreads in the region of the town. It is with great variety of flora and fauna.
