Protopopintsi is a village in northwestern Bulgaria. It is located in the municipality of Chuprene, Vidin region.

Protopopintsi is a small village surrounded by the hills of the Western Balkan Mountains, situated on both banks of the river Chuprenska, at an average altitude of 250 meters. It is located 16 km southeast of the town of Belogradchik, 9 km northeast of Chuprene village, 67 km southwest from Vidin city and 164 kilometers northwest of city of Sofia.

The population of the village numbers about 80 people.

The village has no educational institutions and medical facilities. Residents can rely on elementary school, kindergarten, GP and dentist in the nearby village and community center Chuprene.

The houses are one-storey, in a row and follow the river. The main road is along the river. The village has electricity, water, mobile and phone coverage. There is a football team.

Tourism and landmarks: 

Village of Protopopintsi is suitable for recreation and fishing.

One of the oldest churches in northwestern Bulgaria - "St. Konstantin and Elena" is located in the village. It has been built during the Ottoman rule.

Nearby are several pools with a depth of 6 meters, which locals call Upper and Lower Bobuk.

There are small rocks part of Belogradchishki rocks in some home yards, and in the surrounding area. They are different in color and shape.

The village is near Chuprene biosphere reserve. The reserve was created in 1973 to preserve the northern coniferous forests of Bulgaria. In 1977 it was included in the list of biosphere reserves under the program "Man and Biosphere".

The proximity of the village to Vidin and Belogradchik makes it perfect place for staying and visiting the various cultural and historical sites in these two towns.
