Karnalovo is a village in South-western Bulgaria. It is part of Petrich Municipality, Blagoevgrad region.

It is 75 km south-west from town of Blagoevgrad, 8 km north from town of Petrich, 27 km east from the Bulgarian-Macedonian border at Zlatarevo checkpoint and 24 km north-west from village of Kulata.

Village of Karnalovo spreads out the south-eastern foot of Ograzhden Mountain, in the Petrichka valley. The sea altitude is 113 m. Strumeshnitsa River passes near and surrounds its settlement from south. Neighbouring villages are Starchevo and Mihnevo.

The climate is transitional-Mediterranean and characterizes with hot, long summer and mild winter.

The population is approximately 1770 people.

The village is well-developed and provided with electricity, water and communication equipment. There is a town hall, a comprehensive school, a kindergarten, a community centre, a doctor, a police inspector, a post station, a church, a motor-cycle track and commercial areas. The locals have formed a hunting group.

The climate conditions are favourable for growing early vegetables. There is a big vegetable market and a tailoring workshop.

Landmarks and tourism

Karnalovo is located in close proximity to Kozhuha area - a rock phenomenon - part of an extinct volcano. It was declared a natural landmark in 1962. Here is located Rupite land where the church of St Petka Balgarska is located.

Local landmark is the church of St Atanasii Aleksandriiski. Its holiday and the traditional fair of the village take place on 2 May.

Other places of interest in the region are: town of Sandanski (17 km) - popular balneotherapy centre; Melnik (21 km) - the smallest town in Bulgaria; village of Marikostinovo (18 km) - attractive place with hot, healing mineral springs and mud baths.
