Spatovo is a village situated in South-western Bulgaria. It is part of Sandanski Municipality, Blagoevgrad region.

It is 67 km south-east from town of Blagoevgrad, 9 km in the same direction from town of Sandanski, 155 km south from city of Sofia, 9 km west from town of Melnik and 18 km north from the Bulgarian-Greek border at village of Kulata.

Its population is approximately 100 people.

The village spreads out the eastern part of Sandanska valley, at 196 m above the sea level. It characterizes with transitional-Mediterranean climate. Hot, long summer and mild, warm winter.

Sklavska River passes north the village. There are mineral springs in close proximity. They are favourable for the development of balneotherapy and tourism.

The settlement of Spatovo is suitable for grain crops and perennial trees growing, and stock-breeding as well.

Spatovo comprises a mayor, a community centre with a library, a church and a shop. Health services and educational centres are available in the neighbouring village of Sklave (about 2 km away). The school of Sklave provides regular transportation to the pupils of Spatovo.

Landmarks and tourism

Annual old-time Sunday fair 'Bread and wine' takes place at the settlement of the village, at Igrishteto land. Its purposes is to unite people by traditional communicating - music, songs, dances and food.

The local church 'St George Victorious' (1884) is a monument of culture.

The tourists may visit in the region the smallest town in Bulgaria - Melnik, the biggest monastery in Pirin Mountain - Rozhen Monastery and the warmest town in the country - Sandanski.
