Bordan is a village located in South Bulgaria, part of Karlovo Municipality, Plovdiv Region.
The permanent population is around 1120 inhabitants.
The terrain is plain and hilly with an average altitude of 413 m.
The climate is transcontinental. Winter is mild with average temperature of around 0-1°C, and summer is moderately hot around 20-25°C.
The infrastructure of the village includes partially asphalted and lighted streets, complete electrification, water supply system, partial drainage, mobile operators coverage, telephones and cable TV.
The European road E871 passes around 5 km in northeast direction from the village.
There is regular bus transport from the town of Karlovo.
There is a town hall, post office, kindergarten, community center and library in the village. The temple church is one of the oldest in the region built around 1850. There is also developed network of retail outlets and restaurants.
Health service with well equipped medical office and clinic as well as dental office are taking care for the population of the village of Bogdan.
The main livelihood of the inhabitants of the village is agriculture, livestock, herbs. In recent years many fields of oil rose and lavender were planted.
A firm for production of tubular furniture, umbrellas and travel products for home and abroad is operating in the village.
Tourist and cultural sights
The vilage is located among beautiful and ecologically clean region. Stryama river is running south of Borgan which makes it an appropriate place for walks and picnics during the hot summer days.
The village is a starting point for many tourist routes which lead to the huts "Bogdan", "Buntovna". "Barikadite" and "Cheira". All of them offer excellent conditions for tourism, pleasant and carefree holiday during all seasons. The hut "Srednogorets" located 15 km away from the village has an automobile access.
