Golyam dervent is a village in Elhovo Municipality, Yambol District.

It is set 55 km southeast of Elhovo, 91 km from Yambol, 62 km southwest of the village Momina tsarkva, 113 km in the same direction of Burgas and about 380 km southeast of Sofia. About 2 km from the border with Turkey.

The village is located in Derventski Heights at an altitude of 403 meters. The climate in the region is characterized by hot summers and cold winters.

The permanent population is about 120 people. Nearest schools and kindergartens are located in the town of Elhovo. Medical care is covered by a general practitioner and a medical center in the municipal town.

In the region of Golyam dervent were found several caves. Near the village is situated an open dolmen. The megalithic tomb, dated to the IX century BC were found unique reliefs and ornaments.

The village has organized a yearly fair on May 24.

Reserve "Dolna topchiya" - located in the village of Izgrev. Forest area is dense, and the animal kingdom is represented by birds - pheasant, blackbird, thrush, starlings, owl, owls, and mammals - foxes, jackals, hare, wild boar, fallow deer.

Ethnographic Museum in Elhovo is part of a hundred tourist site and offers visitors a rich variety of exhibits, photographs and documents related to the development of the area between the Liberation.
