The village of Iskra is in Souther Bulgaria and is part of municipality Parvomai, Plovdiv Region.

Three more settlements in Bulgaria have the same name. They are situated in municipality Sitovo, Silistra Region; municipality Karnobat, Burgas Region and in municipality Dryanovo, Gabrovo Region.

It is situated 40 km southeast direction from the town of Plovdiv, 23 km southwest direction from the town of Parvomai and 29 km northwest direction from the town of Asenovgrad.

The population is about 1200 inhabitants.

The terrain is hilly plain with average altitude of 290 m.
The climate in the area is transcontinental and is characterized with mild winter and temperatures around 0ºС, warm summer with average temperatures around 26ºС.

The village has developed infrastructure that includes electricity, water systems, telephones, internet and cable TV.
Regular bus transport connects the village to the town of Parvomai.

There is a school, kindergarten, community center and church.
A general practitioner serves the needs of the inhabitants.
Also there are shops and cafes.

PLACES OF INTEREST AND TOURISM:

Asenova krepost  is a medieval fortress in the Bulgarian Rhodope Mountains, on a high rocky ridge on the left bank of the Asenitsa River. It is situated 15 km from the town of Sadovo. The best preserved and most notable feature of Asenova krepost is the Holy Theotokos of Petrich Church from the 12th-13th century. The town of Asenovgrad takes its modern name from the fortress.

The Bachkovo Monastery or Petritsoni Monastery is situated 35 km from the town and is an important monument of Christian architecture and one of the largest and oldest in Bulgaria. It is located on the right bank of the Chepelare River. The monastery is known and appreciated for the unique combination of Byzantine, Caucasian and Bulgarian culture, united by the common faith.

Also close are situated the town of Chepelare and Pamporovo Resort. This locations have perfect conditions for winter sports and because their beautiful nature they attract tourists also in the summer.
